When Elliot Marks and Avery Holmes come across the scene of a crime while snowshoeing, they have questions and for once, Detective Stewart Denton of St. Ives Police Department is happy to answer them. The case has baffled the department for 25 years. Fresh eyes could help.

As Denton recounts the details of the murder of Graham Wentworth, a Crown prosecutor, who was found shot through the chest in his cabin in 1998, the solution appears to Elliot Marks, but without proof, he refuses to name the killer.
